Les Cascades De Bantry Bay
South Africa [order]
Les Cascades is a stylish villa set high up on Signal Hill above Bantry Bay, an exclusive suburb of Cape Town on the Atlantic seaboard. The guesthouse descends the steep slope in tiers with 2 small swimming pools, a number of sundecks and your own private terrace to toast the setting sun or snooze on your chaise longue.

Belgian owners have created an exquisite hideaway, making the most of the views with floor to ceiling windows and using earthy-coloured Asian and African furnishings to give a stylish ethnic feel. Large dining and living areas are filled with kudu-leather sofas, kuba textiles, zebra skin stools, hand-carved Indian cupboards and fine artworks, while the ten spacious guestrooms each have their own terrace, en-suite bathroom and lounge area.

Relax by the rim-flow pool, enjoying the spectacular views of Bantry Bay and the crashing waves on the rocks far below. And if you can drag yourself away, Cape Towns main attractions are close by. The city centre as well as a range of superb beaches are all within 5 minutes drive.

Les Cascades de Bantry Bay has ten luxurious rooms of different sizes in two adjacent properties, six in the "Main Lodge" and four in the "Villa".

The 6 rooms in the Main Lodge are decorated in a sophisticated ethnic/Balinese theme with sweeping sea views. They all have their own private terraces with a pair of chaises longues to while away the afternoon. Dark-wood furnishings, African art works and some fine modern oil paintings are complemented by fabrics and carpets in muted tones. Sliding wooden shutters block the late afternoon sun which streams into these delightful rooms. This is a place where you can relax in traditional style.

In contrast, the decor in the 4 Villa rooms is more contemporary, as enhanced in details such Philip Stark bathrooms, the use of stainless steel trimmings in combination with chiselled sand stone, exposed wooden beams and game skins. All in all making for a more modern, yet very comfortable retreat.

All the rooms have king-size beds (180cm) and each room has its own lounge, en-suite with bath and separate shower, as well as under-floor heating. They also have their own air-conditioning, safe, satellite television, CD player and telephone and a minibar.

HIGHS

The privacy, stylish interiors and superb pool decks. The position (relatively wind-free under the protection of Lions Head) and breathtaking views add to the allure. Els is a fine chef and takes a personal interest in her guests. The personal feel of a guesthouse combined with the extras services and mod cons, usually only associated with luxury hotels. Value for money.

LOWS

The views might just prove too spell binding and youll miss out on the city. There isn't really a garden (just decking) as the house is built on the full extent of the plot. As it's situated high above the town, you'll need a car or use a taxi to get to shops, restaurants or beaches
